Report on Social and Behavioral Interventions to Increase Organ Donation Grant Program 1999-2004

Model of the interrelationship between public education and hospital-based efforts’ success on improving organ donation outcomes

Description of the Figure

"This figure of interlinking circles representing the various types of interventions and responses to interventions (13 in all) helps to illustrate how each type of intervention can impact the success of other interventions. For example, hospitals and the media represent two large circles or entities that contain examples of 1) those who intervene from the hospital or clinical setting e.g. chaplains, transplant coordinators, social workers, the medical team, and 2) the media—those who express the response towards donation e.g. family attitudes, community norms, individual attitudes. Other interlinking circles or entities that influence donation that are represented on the figure are: organ procurement organizations, religious and spiritual values and beliefs and organized religious institutions, funeral directors, and OPO education and community outreach programs."
