On March 3, 2008, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), published a Federal Register Notice, Vol 73, No 42, for the purpose of soliciting feedback from stakeholders and the public on whether vascularized composite allografts should be included within the definition of organs covered by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) final rule (42 CFR, Part 121) and added to the definition of human organs covered by section 301 of the National Organ Transplant Act of 1984 (NOTA).

The deadline for the public to provide written comments to HRSA has been extended to July 2, 2008. The amended Federal Register Notice, April 7, 2008 (Volume 73, Number 67) is available at the U.S. Government Printing Office website.
